Thanksgiving week

Preston had a week of vacation set and we thought about going to LSU, then decided it would be too much money. Aydon then asked us to take him to check out BYU’s campus so we made plans and then our vehicle broke down and wasn’t fixed in time to go.

I was actually happy because we were finally able to lay all the flooring down finally!!  This was the first time the schools had the full week off and not everyone was happy to have to be working but it was what needed done. We had to do a shirt order one day as well.

The boys got to do the turkey bowl again while I did lots of cooking. We ate at John & Corey’s and then went to visit Preston’s parents after. I made us our own thanksgiving meal so that we could have ham and leftovers.

Friday we all decorated for Christmas and packed for our trip to the valley.

We met up with Preston’s family all together for the first time in years. We had dinner at Osaka’s, a tepenyaki restaurant. Then we headed to Schnepf Farms to check out their Christmas event. Presley who is usually afraid of everyone hung out with Aunt Stephanie most of the night riding rides.

The next day we watched Encanto at the theatre (Presley's first movie in a theatre where she was old enough to watch it) and then headed home. While we were in the valley we did Yukon shopping and ordered a new Yukon since we have 218000 miles on this one.

5 Daughters Ranch

When it came time to put in for deer this year I told Preston I wasn’t because after eating Axis meat, I didn’t want this nasty deer they have out here. When Preston told Ben & Skye they told us to pick a date.

Preston & Drew went together the first morning and seen Axis does, no bucks and had his very first kill with a Barbados Sheep. Preston told him to shoot that particular one in a herd of at least 20 because it was being a bully. It was using his horns to hit the others away from the salt block. Drew was so excited and bragged it was down in one shot.

Aydon & Ty went together and every time they went together they didn’t see anything. Ty said Aydon was bad luck because when they went on their own Ty saw lots of whitetail.

I had just laid Presley down for a nap one afternoon so I went to a couple of blinds with Preston. We saw the Barbary sheep that Preston has been wanting to get since our first visit. We watched it for a while but it was on the neighbors property and wasn’t moving our way so he moved back to the first blind and I headed back to the house.

On the way over to the ranch I had asked each boy what they were wanting to kill.  Aydon wanted to get the red stag Ben’s neighbors had seen on their game cams or a Barbary sheep; Ty wanted a Barbary sheep; Zack wanted to kill another fox & Drew said he wanted to kill an Axis or really just shoot a gun.

Ben took Zack a couple of times to kill some hogs and on the last night since we didn’t have any Acis I told him I’d pay him if shot an Axis.  He said how much…a $100? I said yes but unfortunately they didn’t see any.  We did hear a shot from the blind he was in but I guess he missed a porcupine.

Preston shot a whitetail buck and it was right in front of the blind and he had taken his 338 in hopes of getting his sheep so that big gun blew up a lot of the meat.  We ended up canning all the whitetail and grilled the few pieces that didn’t fit in the jars and it was actually really good.  We were having Axis steaks for dinner and I preferred the whitetail that night.  The boys were happy it wasn’t taking up any freezer space.

Skye and I went on about an hour walk each day and would just visit and had a great time as always. Preston is always sad when he leaves there because he enjoys being there so much. The kids always have a blast playing with the girls.
