Easter

After so much spring break fun it was a rushed Easter.  No pictures of Easter cookies or dying eggs.  We colored a dozen eggs before church and ate at my parents after church.  Luckily, it was a gorgeous day.

After eating I went out to hide eggs for the kids and Drew had just opened a popsicle so he got to stay out.  He followed me around as I hid eggs, little knucklehead.

I let the other boys out all at the same time and the two older snatched up all the easy eggs before the younger two could get them.  

Drew was not happy with Aydon here.  He had spotted a high one and Aydon got it and put it in his basket since Drew couldn't reach it.  

 I said I would hide the eggs again, letting the younger two get a 2 egg start this time.  We also hid plastic eggs with $1 in some of them.

Drew & Zack found nearly all the money eggs, even the harder hidden ones that were meant for the older two.

I hid one in grandpa's lap and called Zack over and otld him to give grandpa a hug.  He was frustrated with me until he found the egg in his lap!  ;)

 But still neeeded help from Uncle Terry to get it.

Aydon found another high one.

And was able to jump and knock it down.  This pic is blurry but I loved it catching the egg falling down.

Then my parents gave the boys some gifts.

 They each got their own purple & gold basketball & coloring/workbooks.

Drew got a clothes hamper for his room.  He had just asked the day before why he didn't have a clothes basket in his room. There was nothing in it...he was just checking it out.  (He jsut saw me as I'm writing this and said, me go in my basket!)

Camping at Roosevelt

As Preston and I were trying to plan things to do during spring break we both mentioned that we wanted to go camping but the forests are still closed for the winter.  I wanted to go somewhere warm.  I mentioned that Roosevelt was warmer temperatures but neither of us have been since we lived at home with our parents.  We needed to work on a few things on the trailer and had kept putting it off so it never became part of our plans.  Then, Amy text me inviting us for a day trip and that was all it took.  :)  Preston was working so I got the trailer ready and thought we would leave as soon as he got home but of course the railroad...anytime you make a plan, something will happen to ruin your plans.  We had to wait a day to go but still managed to get stay out 2 nights.  

I had to run to the grocery store to get some food and of course Drew fell asleep.  This happens a lot and I will lay him in the cart and he usually wakes up a couple of minutes later.  He was exhausted so he slept the entire time.  I started piling food all around him and eventually had to pile it on top of him.  I could not believe he stayed asleep the whole time.  It sure made for a plesant shopping trip though.  

We headed down first thing the next morning.  Man, oh man, was it perfect.  Nice warm temperatures, yummy food, excellent company and the boys stayed busy playing with friends so we got to sit & relax!

Drew & Mia are just a few months apart and played really well together.  So well that I overheard Zack telling them that they had to get married and "lay" babies together when they got older.  Oh, I laughed so hard.  Then I told Zack, you know they don't lay babies and he started asking how babies get out of mommy's tummies so we quickly agreed that they would "lay" babies.  

 Aydon, Avery & Ty found this tire and rolled it out of the lake.

 These boys loved digging.  They dug us a firepit the first night with half of the woodpile loaded in it.  The 2nd night they doubled the size of the firepit.   

 Zack was very content playing on his own most of the time.

 He even fished by himself. 

 I loved that all the big boys played in Collin's area more than he did.  ;)

 Amy had let me know she was planning dutch oven pizzas so I looked up a few recipes and bought the stuff so she could teach me.  They ended up doing something else for dinner that evening so I got to figure it out on my own.  

I didn't get the dough even but it still turned out so yummy.  

 Then of course it was s'mores time!

 The boys went out fishing the next morning.

 Zack, Drew & I hung out at camp.  Zack had originally wanted to go fising, that was before we found the baby bunny.  We lifted our charcoal bag and it was underneath it trying to stay warm I assume.  I thought at first it was a big rat but then I noticed the ears.  The boys put it in a bucket and then a little spat started over who got to take it home.  About 15 minutes later, Avery found another baby bunny in his shoe that he had left outside.  What are the odds?  Amy figured the easter bunny found our families a little early this year.  I thought it was so neat and something they'll always remember.  

 Amy had carrots that they put it in the bucket to feed the bunny (he never ate any though).

 Zack had no problem hanging back because he knew he'd get the bunny all to himself.  It started to bite him but he was so sweet and gentle telling it no, no, don't bite.  

 I think Drew might've been a little disappointed to not go out on the boat.

 Joey's parents took everyone panning for gold.  It was so fun.  The boys really got into it and were saving all the little pieces they found.  Aydon has been interested in gold since he learned about a gold mine here in Arizona.  After finding so much gold, he has another goal in life besides owning his own zoo.  To find the gold from the Lost Dutchman Mine here in AZ.   

 I found a huge piece and told Preston he could retire early!
When we got back from gold panning the bunnies had escaped.   

 The boys were playing go fish when we got back to camp.

 The 3rd day was absolutely gorgeous!  It had been a little cloudy the last couple of days but there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  I was so excited to get some sun!  I was finally hot enough that I could stay in the freezing cold lake water for more than just a dip.  The Henling's came down for a day and so Kim, Amy & I took a turn on the tube even!  What a fun time we had!

Drew was able to learn how to fill up his own squirter!  What a happy day for him & mom.  ;)

 

  

So fun!  Great way to end our 2 week spring break.
