1st Day of School 2013-2014

 Here they are...ready to go!
4th grade with Miss Beaudette at Bonnie Brennan.  Aydon is most excited about the homework punch card.  You earn punches and after 15 you get excused from one night of homework!
2nd grade with Mrs. Villanueva at Jefferson.  Ty is most excited about FINALLY having his cousin/best friend Jhett in his class.  Jhett picked the seat next to him and they sit together on the bus.
Kindergarten with Miss Boyter at Jefferson
I begged Zack Attack to stay home another year with me but he was too excited to go to school.  He was also too excited to ride the bus so once again I didn't get to drop them off at school.  Probably for the best though, those few tears that fell weren't in public and couldn't embarass anyone.  When Zack came home he said his favorite parts of the day were nap time and recess-I knew those would be the answers.  That boy still takes a 3 hour nap some days and he loves to play on the equipment at his school.  I asked him again if he wants to just stay home with me and he said no still.
This is how they feel about the first day of school in July!
 Look at that smile.
Aydon & Zack seated together, with Ty on the other side (can barely see his hat)

Drew was fine.  When Vickey asked him what he was going to do he said play with all Zack's toys.  :)  Then he asked for "Pizza Hut" for lunch!  We took him to Captain Tony's and he was so upset because he couldn't go "play games" because his brothers weren't there to take him.
Here's to another great school year!

DeSpain ranch visits

In all the years since we have been married and gone to visit Preston's grandparents I have BEGGED for him to stop in front of the turnoff for a picture in front of this sign.  Thanks to his addiction to Instagram now, he was much more willing to comply this time.  haha!
Drew was unfortunately napping...have to do this again soon!
Last time we went to the ranch the boys were checking out the baby rabbits so they wanted to do the same.  This time we went to a cousin, Dave's rabbit pen.  Good night.  I've never seen so many rabbits in my life.  I'm talking probably 250 rabbits!
They were all dying to hold one but I only caught Aydon holding one.
On this trip to the ranch, we were just stopping to say hi but Grandpa Earl mentioned that he wanted us to come help Gary re-do his porch.  The following week, we headed back over to demo & build a front porch before the reunion.

Love that tongue work!

The boys were all so willing to help this day.  If only they were always that willing & ready to help we'd get lots of work done around here!  :)  I think Preston had ideas of a future construction crew!

July 4th

I had been gone most of the week & was planning to spend a day at the creek with the boys, grilling & doing fireworks.  Before starting that fun, I was trying to get caught up on some housework.  I sent each of the boys to their rooms to make their beds and clean their rooms.  Zack, as usual, didn't want to and kept getting distracted.  I finally told him not to leave his room until it was done.  Not long after that I heard a loud sound and then crying.  I stayed in the laundry room but when I saw him walk in with blood dripping from his forehead I knew it was serious.  I got him wiped up and it was a small gash but fairly deep.  A few years ago he had hit his eyebrow on Aydon's door & we considered getting a stitch but decided against it.  With him hitting his head on door again, this time on the forehead, we decided we better get a stitch so it wouldn't leave a nasty scar.

We dropped the boys off with Vickey at Safeway and headed to the ER.  Luckily, they got us in and out in about an hour so it wasn't too much of our day like I figured it would be.  It did ruin our plans of swimming since they superglued the cut together.  He fell asleep on the way home from the ER anyway from all the crying he had done.  He kept refusing motrin at home & at the ER but after we woke up from his nap complaining I forced him to take some and he has seemed fine since.

Like my dad says, if my boys were too get hurt anywhere else besides their heads, we might have to worry about it but their such knotheads it's all good.

For the record:  Doors 2 Zack 0.  Hopefully, he'll take note of this and quit going against them.  ;)

Instead of swimming, we laid around and watched TV and that was just what we needed.  We have been go, go, go all summer so it was nice to sit & do nothing for a change.

We were planning another crab/shrimp boil but it didnt' work out so we just grilled Steak & Shrimp instead.  It was delicious.  We enjoyed the fireworks from my parents backyard without anyone being afraid and only 1 falling asleep this year.  One of these years, they'll all make it through without falling asleep (I hope).
