Aydon's broken elbow

Aydon & Ty both have weights and they had told me that their weights teacher was out with COVID and so the girls PE teacher just had both classes playing dodgeball all week.  Both boys were complaining of different parts of their arms hurting from doing so.  Thursday we were working on shirts and I missed a call but Aydon talked to Preston and said the nurse just wanted him to call to let us know he had been seen and what happened.  I heard Preston say are you ok and Aydon must've said yes.  A couple of hours later Aydon text me and said he thought he needed to be seen for it.  I was reluctant but since he said he couldn't type and that's how they're doing all their work now I said I'd call for an orthopaedic appointment.  I had already started dinner and really didn't want to go so I sent Preston for a 3:30 appointment.  It was after 5 and I still hadn't heard anything so I called to see if they were headed home yet and they said no, they were waiting to get a sling because he had broken it.  I was shocked!  When the school nurse and Lani Leonard text me to check on him they were shocked too.  Lani's husband said it sounds like an avulstion fracture.  When I looked that up it did make sense, it's where a tendon broke off a piece of his elbow bone.  

We were supposed to follow up in 2 weeks but with Thanksgiving it was pushed back to 3 weeks, then we caught COVID and with Christmas he can't be seen until January.  He wore his sling and got out of all his chores up until the day before we left for Texas.  He really wanted to be able to hunt for an axis deer so he took it off to show us he could hold a gun.  He's now out of it but still trying to be cautious.

 

Cody's wedding

The boys have been begging to go see Tanner who we hadn't seen for a couple of years since he was on his mission but with COVID, we just couldn't make it work to get up there to see him after he was sent home.  When we got the invitation for the wedding we knew it was the best chance to see all the Johnson's which is rare now that they are all growing up and being on their own.  

We had offered to take Uncle Larry some of his things out of his container now that it isn't so hot and we were already headed that way.  

We had Ty's orthodontist appointment and everyone else had flu shot appointments early Friday morning and so we had to leave early in the day and needed to stall so that we could see Uncle Larry.  We thought we'd try the Hoover dam since we haven't done that since the boys were tiny but with all Uncle Larry's hunting gear we weren't able to.  Instead we stopped at a park in Boulder City and were able to watch a huge heard of rams graze in the park grass.  It was crazy to be so close to so many of them and be unspooked.  There was one that sneezed over and over again in spurts and it was so funny.  We teased it was like Aydon with his allergies.  

We didn't want to take a chance with all of Uncle Larry's stuff being left alone so luckily Rohannon was home and we just went ahead and unloaded it in his garage (in what I felt was a very disorganized mess for him to go through later-felt so bad) and then we went shopping.  Uncle Larry & Rohannon were able to meet up with us for dinner and we got to visit a bit before heading to our room for the night.  

The next morning, we decided to do a little bit more shopping and then headed to Logandale where the wedding was.  I didn't think we'd end up there again.  We were able to go visit with the Johnson's for a few minutes before they had to get ready.  

The wedding was beautiful and it was so tender to see Cody so emotional.  We were surprised at how cool it got and then Presley was tired so we ended up leaving a little early from the reception.  The next morning we were able to go visit some more before leaving.  It was short but so nice to see the Johnson's.
