Easter

 City Easter Egg Hunt

I asked to make the Easter bunny cake this year and when it came time to decorate the boys were so excited to help.  I think Zack was playing video games.

 After getting the rest of our chores done and helping Granny finish dying her eggs, we came home to dye our eggs.

 The Easter Bunny brought candy this year.

 All the rails were in so it was a great family dinner at my parents house.

The adults then hid 52 real eggs and 17 plastic eggs for the boys.

 Abby found a real one!  One of the boys tried to go get it and she snatched it back up in her mouth again before they could.  It was quite funny.

 Sunshine had brought the plastic eggs and they were filled with silly puddy, gold dollars, and 4 quarters so they were sorting out what they got.

 Then in the one big egg they were allowed to get they had numbers.  They got to pick a prize in order and Sunshine said #3 could pick a prize or take #1 or 2's prize.  The boys were all great and kept their own prize until the final pick and Ty chose the one Aydon had picked but they were both happy with what they got.  

 No fights, thank goodness.

 Then Granny brought out their gifts for the kids.

 They finally got nets to play with!  Can you tell they are excited?!  Jace's reaction was best, jumping up and down!

 They played a little game in the yard while we cleaned up.

 Abby loves to chase balls, my parents throw balls for her all the time and buy her big balls to play with.  It killed her to watch them play hockey right next to her.  She soon found her way underneath that fence above and stole the ball.  It was a riot!  When Zack went to get the ball from her she nipped at him. We told them they could go to Jefferson or John's and play.  They all walked over to John's and we met them later.

 Mom also got the boys these shirts...they are my favorite...Preston & I had one like this!

They had wanted new hats & all picked one out while we were in Phoenix.  We slyly bought them for and that was their Easter gift from us.  

The DeSpain's and Crandall's both gave them $5 each as well.  

Young

Vickey lived in Young, AZ when she was younger.  She had said she wanted to show us where she grew up so we used our last day of break to go check it out.  Preston had never been and Vickey had been in many years.  We rode the back way through the woods, had a picnic and it was probably about 30 miles from Heber and then it was a 20 mile dirt road to Young.  It was crazy, we started out on that dirt road and when you looked off either side it was straight down it seemed.  It was funny because we drove what felt like 5 miles and the road sign only said we went 1 mile.  In both vehicles we made the same joke that someone from Young must've made the sign.  :)  Young was in a valley where it didn't matter where you looked, there were mountains surrounding you.  It was pretty.  

Our first stop was the only store and the one gas pump at the time Vickey lived there.  I asked how often they left town to get groceries and she said once a month and during winter months, they sometimes couldn't get back home since snow would shut the roads down.  

I have heard about these pumps but never seen one.  We couldn't go in the gate so I had to zoom in to get a better look.

 It's the kind where you filled the cylinder there on top and then pumped it in your vehicle.

 They lived here because her dad was the head school teacher there.  She took us to the school, which is now a bigger school but at the time it was just a small building.  Preston on the way down was making jokes saying they probably still had hitching posts where they tied up their horses but when she showed us the school she said they really did ride their horses to school.  The school was small and she said there was one senior, two juniors and maybe 5 others when she went to school.  She said she loved the school meals, they had a guy that lived across from the school that would make biscuits and gravy for breakfast and chili beans for lunch.  Can't beat homemade food!  The boys were jealous to hear that story.

 She then wanted us to go to Higler's Creek, where she remembers going to play.

 She didn't even know if it would still be running, but it was.

 I had told Zack to climb the tree but he needed help getting up that first part.

 Then he was walking across the log across the creek.  All the rest of the boys were trying to catch crawfish all this time.

We walked down the creek a ways and Vickey had seen a fish so the boys were trying to look for some too.  

It was neat to check out, a pretty drive, long, but pretty (wouldn't' want to do that very often though).  We stopped at Romo's for dinner to finish off our break.
