Creek Day

The weather was great during spring break.  Warm, no wind!  We finally had a day that we could go canoe & kayak down the creek.  We didn't have much time before practice so we just went to Crown and layed out on the rocks enjoying the beautiful weather.  Dexter chased lizards and we watched a beautiful butterfly come and land on/near us.  We got pretty warm and Preston & Aydon decided to go for it and jump off a rock.  They did and they said it was freezing.  Zack & Drew both jumped in from the water level.  Zack was crazy and swam around like it was warm.  Poor Drew yelled at first and then started crying.  When Preston pushed me in, it took my breath away so I'm sure that's what happened with him.  Ty had gotten in to his waist when we started and so everytime someone got in he yelled, I told you it was cold but he hadn't fully submersed himself like everyone else so Preston pushed him in.
Zack & I kayaked on the way out.  We let Aydon & Ty head home but there was too much tension going on so we let Drew have a try.  These two did awesome together.

It was a fun day & we all got a little tan.  :)

Zack's first (pulled) tooth

Backtracking...the day before the first day of school, Zack fell down the stairs at church and hurt his front tooth.  Well this stinking tooth has been nothing but problems since then.  2 days before Spring Break I got a call from the school saying he was complaining of his mouth hurting.  The night before he had been at Sunshine's and came home with an ice pack on it.  We got him into the dentist later that day and he was put on antibiotics for the fourth time in 8 months for the abcess.  I had had enough.  We got home from vacation and we went and had that stinking tooth pulled.  He cried a little bit but was excited about the box with his tooth (including the root) in it.  I forgot to take a picture of him with it before the tooth fairy came.  :(  This is a picture he had Ty take of him to send Granny & Sunshine since they were the only ones we hadn't seen to show them.  My kids don't usually lose their first tooth until the end of second grade so we're betting he'll be toothless for a good year.

Wildlife World Zoo

We hadn't officially planned to do this but decided we better go while the weather is still nice and not too hot.  Zack & Ty had won 2 tickets each from the football raffle.  We have been once before but it was in July, I had to push Preston in a wheelchair because that's when he was on crutches with his knee...needless to say it wasn't my most favorite trip to the zoo.  I figured I better give it another try though.
Drew spotted "the bulls" he saw in the backyard again.  :)

I had forgotten how many birds this zoo has!  Tons & tons of birds, nearly every exhibit there are birds.

We were fascinated at how long the tail was on this one.
Ty wanted so bad to see a peacock with its tail up.  It took until we were ready to live to finally come up on one that had it's feathers up but it was in such a bad spot I couldn't get a good picture for him.

We sat and watched this baby monkey for a while.  Oh so cute!
He reminded us of someone.  ;)  We asked and a worker said he was about a month old.
Then there was this little one that was probably about a year old who was so playful.  It was funny to watch what we assumed was the mom grab at him and hold him down for a bit, then it jumped up and ran and hung upside down again.
These things were HUGE!
I wanted sooo bad to jump over this little 4 foot fence and catch me a gator.  :)  There were six of them hanging out.

This one tiger was pacing while the other was just lying down.
We happened to be watching while it came right up to us...stared us straight in the eyes and then laid down as well.
The boys were feeding some ducks and Koi.
A white tiger.
We got there right as this Jaguar was coming down from it's resting spot.
We watched as it kept opening his mouth like this for some reason.
A salt water gator.
Tried to get Drew to turn around so I could take a picture but he didn't cooperate
so Preston offered instead.  :)
I remember this white alligator from our first visit.  It hasn't grown much in those few years.
Vickey was telling us about how these trees were on her grandpa's farm where she grew up and how they made tunnels and played in them as children.
The rhino was playing with his ball but by the time I got where I could get a picture he just laid down next to it.
A baby Oryx

Everyone that walked by was reciting the commercial...Mike, Mike, Mike know what day it is?  HUMP DAY!
Last time we were here we tried to get the boys to feed the giraffes and they were too scared.
Aydon wasn't anymore.  He then proceeded to touch everyone he could with nasty giraffes slobbers after that.  Yuck.
The ugliest creatures!  I was trying to figure out how they eat those bananas without eating the peel.
They had some young giraffes that were just laying around.
These two knew it was feeding time because they paced their gate the whole time we were watching them.  Before they started pacing, they were playing and roaring.
This ostrich fell in love with Zack.  It kept moving it's neck with it's mouth open like that.  Anywhere Zack walked, it followed.  It was so weird, whatever it was doing with it's mouth.  It looked like it was choking and was trying to get someone to help it.

They hyenas had been eating and we walked by just as they were let back in their area.
A white lion...probably waiting to eat too.

Ty wanted sooo bad to see the sharks and when we only saw this little one he was disappointed.  We did get to a bit larger one later but I think he was hoping to like see Jaws or something.
Drew noticed Dory & Nemo.
